How to Use ELIS

ELIS, or the Educator Licensure Information System, is the Illinois State Board of Education’s online platform that all Illinois educators use to apply for, renew, view, and manage their licensure credentials.

Important: ELIS is not compatible with handheld devices, tablets, or Mac computers. For the best experience, please use a non-Apple desktop or laptop computer.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    1. Access the ELIS system and select “Login to your ELIS account”

    2. Click “Click Here for First Time Access to the ELIS System”

    3. Fill in all required fields and select “Continue”

    For guidance on applying for, renewing, or adding endorsements to a specific license, please visit the corresponding license type page.

  • If you still have access to the email used to sign up for ELIS:

    • Use the Find Login/Password feature in ELIS and follow the steps provided.

    • ROE4 staff are available to assist if needed.

    If you no longer have access to that email:

    • Contact ISBE directly at 217-557-6763 for account recovery assistance.
      • Once you call, press 2 and then 1

    2. Email, drop off, or mail the completed form along with a copy of your current marriage license, social security card, or divorce decree to ROE4 at:

    Your name change will be processed, and your ELIS account should reflect the update in a few months.

    1. Log in to your ELIS account.

    2. Select the “My Credentials” tab at the top or “View Your Credentials” box at the bottom of the page.

    3. Print the page for your records.

    2. Your license expiration date can be found in two places:

      • Under the “Licenses” heading, check the “Registered Thru” box on the far right.

      • On the “Credential” page, scroll down to the registration columns to view the registration years next to your regions.

  • To add college coursework, degrees, or transcripts to your ELIS account:

    1. Request that your school send official transcripts to ROE4 either:

      • By email to licensure@roe4.org (directly from the institution), or
      • By mail (sealed official transcripts)
