Level Up Your Impact: Building Purposeful Relationships to Promote Student Independence

This three-hour workshop empowers paraprofessionals to promote student independence through strategic support. Participants will learn evidence-based techniques for:
- Assessing when and how much support students need in different environments
- Implementing systematic support-fading strategies that build student confidence
- Developing supportive relationships that encourage self-sufficiency
- Creating personalized scaffolding plans that gradually transfer responsibility to students
Through interactive case studies and role-playing exercises, paraprofessionals will practice identifying the "right" amount of support for various situations and develop concrete plans for systematically reducing assistance over time. The session concludes with essential self-care strategies and professional boundary-setting techniques to prevent burnout and maintain effectiveness throughout a rewarding career.
*We strongly encourage paraprofessionals who are within their first three years in their career as a paraprofessional to take Paraprofessional 101: Training for New Paraprofessionals prior to taking this course.
