Instructional coaches, department chairs, and team leaders often find themselves between two worlds - tasked with supporting colleagues on the front lines while also existing in what feels like no man's land between district level and building administration. When educational change happens “to teachers”, coaches and team leaders can step-in as figures of stability and positivity for and with those they serve.

In this 2-day active workshop, participants will practice how to create and sustain positive relationships with those they lead. Also, participants will translate their school & district initiatives to achieve the primary objective - increasing student and educator performance and engagement.

This foundational three-hour session is designed for paraprofessionals in their first one-to-three years of service and introduces essential skills and knowledge for paraprofessionals new to supporting students in Illinois schools.

Participants will learn about their role in the classroom, basic behavior management techniques, and effective communication strategies with both students and teachers. The session covers understanding IEPs, confidentiality requirements, and establishing appropriate boundaries.

Illinois state law (105 ILCS 128/45 Sec. 45) requires every school to have a threat assessment team established and threat assessment procedures developed and implemented. This workshop will provide an overview of the new legal requirements as well as provide you with training that is considered “best practice” by the US Dept of Education and the US Secret Service.

Objectives:
By the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:

• Apply the skills and information obtained by implementing the system through hands-on activities and potential threat scenarios
• Identify specific types of threats, how to develop a student safety assessment and management team
• Use scripted protocols to handle situations with fidelity, and establish a plan for the reintegration of the student(s) into the school environment

This IN-PERSON course will be held at the ROE 4 Office, Winnebago Room, 300 Heart Blvd, Loves Park, IL 61111. Participant will be responsible for the registration fee unless cancellation notice is received by the ROE 4 office within 7 business days of the training. Refunds will not be processed unless this criteria is met.

You'll gain an understanding of valuable AI resources and strategies to enhance your teaching practice and support student success in an AI-driven world. Join us to explore the potential of AI and prepare for an informed and effective start to the new school year.. 

Each day, participants will have the opportunity to attend a series of four in-person sessions presented by regional subject matter experts. Topics will include domestic violence, sextortion, human trafficking, teen dating violence, child sexual abuse, and healthy relationships. Participants will also have the ability to engage with interactive self-care stations and network with local service providers.

All educators, in-school professionals, social service agency staff, nurses, social workers, counselors, and other allied professionals are welcome to attend!

PDCs are available for certified educators and will be issued following a completed sign-in and evaluation. Please note that PDCs will be distributed in half-day increments.

CEUs are available and provided by Rosecrance for nurses, social workers, and counselors following a completed sign-in and evaluation.

Opening remarks will begin at 9:00 am. Please arrive 15-30 minutes early for sign-in, parking, and seating.
