Before the Crisis: Implementing Best Practices in Student Behavioral Threat Assessments - AA #1876

Illinois state law (105 ILCS 128/45 Sec. 45) requires every school to have a threat assessment team established and threat assessment procedures developed and implemented. This workshop will provide an overview of the new legal requirements as well as provide you with training that is considered “best practice” by the US Dept of Education and the US Secret Service.

Objectives:
By the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Apply the skills and information obtained by implementing the system through hands-on activities and potential threat scenarios
  • Identify specific types of threats, how to develop a student safety assessment and management team
  • Use scripted protocols to handle situations with fidelity, and establish a plan for the reintegration of the student(s) into the school environment

This IN-PERSON course will be held at the ROE 4 Office, Winnebago Room, 300 Heart Blvd, Loves Park, IL 61111. Practical Strategies for Paraprofessionals:  Understanding Motivation & Promoting Positive Behavior
