Looking to be informed about restorative practices to improve community in your classroom?

You will be introduced to the concept of community circles and how they can be utilized as a powerful tool in restorative practices. You will explore the purpose and benefits of community circles, which provide a safe space for open communication, relationship-building, and conflict resolution among students and staff. Through interactive exercises and role-playing scenarios, you will learn how to facilitate community circles effectively, create a sense of belonging and trust within the school community, and address issues in a restorative and collaborative manner.

By the end of this session, participants will build skills and confidence to implement community circles as a regular practice in their school community. Target Audience: Teachers, Substitute Teachers, Paraprofessionals, School Administrators, Behavioral Interventionists, Social Workers, and Counselors!

School Bus Driver 8-Hour Initial Course

New Bus Drivers are required to attend an 8-hour training course. Pre-register for this course with the Regional Office of Education ($10.00 fee required) at the orange REGISTRATION (GROUP) button below. You must be currently employed by a bus company or school district.

Drivers MUST BE REGISTERED TO ATTEND. Please register in groups of 1-10 participants until the class capacity has been reached. Note: Even if you are only registering one school bus driver, please select REGISTRATION (GROUP). Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Phone-in or email registrations are no longer accepted for any school bus driver training classes held at ROE 4. Once the class size has reached capacity, no further registrations will be accepted - NO EXCEPTIONS!

This course is held in the Regional Office of Education Main Training Room, 300 Heart Blvd, Loves Park, IL 61111. (Addresses of courses held at other locations are as listed in the School Bus Driver Training Schedule). Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Classes start promptly at 6:00 p.m. LATE ARRIVALS AND WALK-INS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED. Join us for an open discussion on current educational technology topics and trends. This networking meeting is open to all educational technology positions including technology directors, instructional technology coaches, and any other positions interested in discussing the current state of technology in our schools. While a short presentation may lead off our time together, the majority of the meeting will be open for participants to share their experiences and challenges with the group.

Join us for an eye-opening, Interactive Financial Reality Workshop where you'll step into the shoes of those navigating financial hardships, housing insecurities, and challenges in accessing resources.

This immersive experience is a learning tool created as a way to help people understand the realities of poverty...a situation that may affect some of your students, and possibly some of your co-workers. Participants role-play the lives of low-income families with the stressful task of providing for basic necessities and shelter on a limited budget during the course of four "weeks."

This survival simulation enables participants to look at poverty from a variety of angles and then to recognize and discuss potential for change within their schools and communities. The poverty simulation was designed to sensitize those who interact with low-income families, as well as to create a broader awareness of the realities of poverty among policy makers, community leaders, and educators.

After the workshop, we will engage in a Roundtable Discussion to explore local resources and collaborate on strategies to better support students and families facing these challenges.
