This foundational three-hour session is designed for paraprofessionals in their first one-to-three years of service and introduces essential skills and knowledge for paraprofessionals new to supporting students in Illinois schools.
Participants will learn about their role in the classroom, basic behavior management techniques, and effective communication strategies with both students and teachers. The session covers understanding IEPs, confidentiality requirements, and establishing appropriate boundaries.
Attendees will leave with practical tools to navigate classrooms with confidence and clarity about their crucial support role in the educational team.
