♦ Not sure EXACTLY what Science of Reading REALLY means?
♦ Do you want to fully understand best practices in literacy instruction to ensure young readers in your districts and schools can achieve at the highest possible levels?
Come to this 60 minute informational session and Q&A to learn more about how to transform literacy instruction in your district with our Lexia LETRS® cohorts forming this summer and fall!
Learn how maximizing your ESSA funding in this way can support professional development of teachers in a way that will benefit your district’s students for years to come! With specialized training opportunities for both teachers and administrators in science-informed best practices, teachers can know exactly how best to teach students to read, and administrators can learn exactly what science-informed best practices should look like to support literacy instruction in schools.
In addition to exploring Lexia LETRS® for all educators, this informational session will also showcase Lexia’s LETRS® for Administrators, a course customized specifically for the needs of coaches, principals, and district administrators to become literacy experts in their districts and schools. This format, more condensed than traditional LETRS® training, acknowledges the unique role of administrators and defines the systems and infrastructures required to successfully implement a literacy initiative aligned to scientifically-based research.
Built from the research in implementation science and sustainability, school improvement, and shared leadership, the course provides numerous tools—including an analysis of the current systems required for improved literacy outcomes—for guiding an implementation through various stages.
Some form of LETRS is for YOU!! Why LETRS? Research shows that only ⇒ 35% of students are reading proficiently, but 95% of students CAN learn to read when instruction is based on the science of reading. And while teachers are the MOST essential factor in student success, ⇒only about half of teaching institutions effectively prepare teachers for literacy instruction in the short window of coursework available in undergraduate programs.
♦ Teaching reading requires a deep understanding of the processes and science behind it. LETRS is the professional learning program rooted in the science of reading that empowers teachers. ♦
