Beyond Being Informed: Inclusive & Trauma Informed Policies, Procedures and Practices

Do you have basic knowledge about the way trauma presents in a community? Are you interested in expanding your toolkit to support students who have experienced trauma?

This presentation will provide participants with a comprehensive overview of inclusive and trauma-informed policies, procedures, and practices within educational settings. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the impact of trauma on students' learning and behavior, as well as the importance of creating safe and supportive environments for all learners. The session will cover the principles of trauma-informed care and highlight the key components of trauma-informed practices in education. 

Participants will:

  • learn practical strategies for implementing trauma-informed discipline, building positive relationships with students, and fostering a culture of empathy and understanding in the classroom
  •  explore the concept of inclusive education and its benefits for all students
  • learn how to update school policies to support trauma-informed discipline and provide ongoing professional development for staff.
  • leave the presentation with practical tools, resources, and next steps for implementing inclusive and trauma-informed policies and practices in their own educational settings.
